- ARRO Elections – We are now accepting nominations for elections to the ARRO Executive Board from 2006-2008. Please see the attached letter for further details. The deadline for nominations is November 21, 2005. This year ARRO has instituted two new election requirements that will enhance the diversity and representation of all radiation oncology residents. First, one of the three slots will be reserved for a resident from a program of six or fewer residents. Second, a resident cannot run for election if his or her institution has a resident currently serving on the ARRO Board. This will ensure that every year the residents will be represented by an ARRO Board comprised of residents from different institutions.
- American Radium Society -- The ARS deadline for abstracts has been moved to December 1, 2005.
- Key Articles Database – ARRO has put together a compilation of key publications (http://www.arro.org/resources/key_papers/index.htm) organized by every disease site with links to the PubMed reference. This section of the ARRO website will serve as an educational resource for all radiation residents, and it is just the beginning of many more great things to come on the website. We invite all residents to contact us for feedback and input into updating, improving, and adding to this database.
- E-Campus – We’ve developed an agreement with E-campus to offer radiation oncology related textbooks as well as other books at a discount price to the residents. A link will soon be setup on the ARRO Web site, or you can go directly to www.ecampus.com under the “Virtual Bookstore” link on the upper right corner of the home page.
- Residency Program Requirements on unsealed sources – For more information on the new requirements by the NRC and ABR regarding unsealed sources, please see the following link: http://www.theabr.org/NRC_Final_Reg_RO.htm
- E-mail Addresses – For the senior residents graduating this year, please send us your new e-mail addresses to stevens@astro.org for the first year after residency so we can continue to maintain contact through Arrograms. We may have important updates regarding oral board exams and other requirements.
