  1. ARRO’s recently elected officers and previous officers met for the first time during the Spring Refresher Course. The new officer positions are: Shilpen Patel, Chair; Eric Hansen, Vice Chair; John Wilson, Treasurer; Joshua Petit, Education Officer; Kenneth Chao, Events Coordinator; and Eugene Huang, Elections Officer. Please contact us with your suggestions and feedback.
  2. We wanted you all to be aware that registration for housing for the 2005 ASTRO Annual Meeting in Denver opened up for ASTRO members only. You'll want to reserve your room early, so please do so as soon as possible. The link to the housing site is:  https://reg.jspargo.com/astro05/housing/.
  3. This year’s ARRO meeting during the ASTRO Annual Meeting will have a few new features including a resident resource center and additional speakers. Plan to arrive by Saturday morning so you don’t miss out.
  4. The results of the 2003 surveys were recently published in the Red Journal. Please see the attached article to see how education is changing.
  5. ASTRO is excited to offer the new Translational Research in Radiation Oncology Symposium being held August 5-6, 2005 in San Francisco. The two day symposium is designed to encourage the development and promotion of physician-scientists in the field of translational research in radiation oncology. Leading physicians, physicists, biologists and industry representatives will present key topics in biology and physics that are being used as the basis for the design of new treatments. Abstracts will be solicited for oral and poster presentation at the meeting. Travel Grants are available. Submit your abstract (http://astrotrans.abstractcentral.com/) or (http://www.astro.org/Meetings/ConferencesAndSymposia/Translational/) register now.
  6. Be on the lookout as ARRO is compiling a “key articles” database, an away rotation setup, the 2005 Chief Resident Survey, working internationally to develop a survey to compare training in the U.S. versus training in Europe, and a redesign of the Web site. We welcome your feedback and ideas!
