Boards information and updates
- ARRO raises concerns regarding board certification to ABR.
- Inquiries in the pass rate of the boards.
- ARRO acquires physics questions to prepare you for the boards.
- Radiobiology and Radiation Physics Curriculum.
ARRO brought concerns that PGY5 residents would be unfairly penalized, as they would be taking the exam as PGY4 residents who are taking only two parts of the exam. The American Board of Radiology’s response is attached to this email. To further address issues representatives from the American Board of Radiology will address residents at the ARRO meeting during the ASTRO Annual Meeting.
We have received a few emails regarding pass rates for the board examination. ARRO learned of the following: at the August written exam, 160 candidates sat for the clinical exam and 159 for biology and physics. This was the first time that the written exam consisted of all "A" type questions (single best answer multiple choice). The pass rate by exam was presented by Dr. Larry Davis to the RRC:

ARRO has spoken with the Chair of the Resident Physics Syllabi Subcommittee, who has passed along some board-type questions in physics that might be useful. We hope these are helpful to direct your studying.
There have been some questions as to if there is a national curriculum for radiobiology or radiation physics. You can find this information on the ARRO Web site at http://www.astro.org/arro/residents/physics_rad_bio/

- July 20-22, 2005 - Written ABR Boards.
